How to find Ivy House
Ivy House Address
16, La Madeleine, Sainte Marie Du Mont 50480, Normandy, France
From Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport
By car it will take around 3 hours to reach us, alternatively you can catch a train to Carentan or Cherbourg but you will need to make arrangements to hire a car on arrival.
From Caen (Ouistreham)
We are approximately one hours drive from the port at Caen. This port is called Ouistreham and from there, it is mostly motorway to Ivy House. Brittany Ferries operate the ferry from Portsmouth and the overnight crossing is especially popular.
From Le Havre
It will take around two and a half hours to reach us from Le Havre, this is probably the best way to get to us as the Ferry Company LD Lines runs from Portsmouth daily, this Ferry Company provides some of the cheapest Ferry Crossings to Normandy.
From Calais it will take around four hours to get to Ivy House. Ferries are very cheap to Calais, usually around £30 each way, but you do have some tolls to pay for the Pont de Normandie and some of the Motorways; these Tolls usually add up to about £15. It is worth noting that the toll roads in France are usually not very busy and they are a real pleasure to drive on; in stark contrast to the driving conditions in the UK!
It is only about 40 minutes drive from the port at Cherbourg and once you leave the city of Cherbourg, it is mostly motorway. Brittany Ferries operate boats from Portsmouth and Poole from England.
Driving Directions From Cherbourg
leave the terminal and follow the large green signs for Caen (N13). Stay on the N13 for about 30 minutes, you will pass the exits for Valognes, Montebourg and Ste Mere Eglise, you will see an exit for Utah Beach but ignore it and carry on until you see the next sign which will be for Carentan and St. Come du Mont, take this exit and when you reach the top of the slip road turn left. This road is the D913, the first small village you drive through will be vierville, five minutes later you will reach Ste Marie du Mont, keeping the church on your right go straight on and you will see a sign for Utah Beach. As you move out of the village you will be able to see the sea in front of you and on clear days Pointe du Hoc can be seen off to the right in the distance.
As you approach Utah Beach you will pass the Danish memorial on your right (a bronze figure) take the next left which is sign posted “La Chapelle de Madeleine”, be careful as the signpost cannot be seen until you are almost past the turn!
Driving Directions from Caen (Ouistreham), Calais or Le Havre
it will take slightly longer, you will need to exit the N13 at the second junction after you have passed under the tunnel, the first exit you pass will be marked for Carentan Z.I. (Industrial Zone) the next exit will be for St Come du Mont and Utah Beach, then follow the instructions above.
