Hundreds of thousands of men landed in Normandy from June 6th 1944, heralding the liberation of Europe from Nazi Tyranny. With those men, hundreds of thousands of stories; stories that may never be told, or stories that have missing pieces.
Many people come to Normandy to pay their respects to family members who lost their lives during D-Day, or to follow in the footsteps of the greatest generation.
Many of the people who stay at Ivy House are on their own pilgrimage; no doubt with missing pieces of their own D-Day stories. We encourage these people to share stories on our site in the hope that we can help them too. If you have a story, we would love to hear it; we would also like to share it with the world.
To publish your story on our "D-Day Stories" pages, please feel free to contact us via our site, Skype or telephone +33 233 44 88 40. We think it is important to keep the history alive to pass on to future generations. We must never forget what those brave men and women have done for us all. We are especially interested to hear from you if your story involves the brave soldiers of the American 4th Infantry Division who landed on Utah Beach in Normandy.
I have told my own D-Day Story about my grandfather, Joseph Kerr Hislop, who was killed in the battle for Caen in July 1944. I am sharing my story in the hope that visitors to our site can help to fill some of the missing pieces. The Internet is a fantastic tool to share information, so please share your stories with us and the rest of the world.
